A 12-year-old girl was found dead under a bridge in Houston after she snuck out of her family home on June 17. Texas authorities said Jocelyn Nungaray ran into two men, who were out drinking, at a nearby 7/11 gas station when they asked her for directions. Nungaray was then lured to a bridge by the men. Jocelyn snuck out of her family’s apartment at 10 p.m. before encountering Franklin Pena and Johan Jose Martinez-Rangel. Court records indicate that Martinez attacked Jocelyn and Pena claimed he tried to intervene. Jocelyn’s mother, Alexis Nungaray, is seeking justice for her daughter, describing her as goofy and loving, while emphasizing the personal significance of the case beyond its high-profile nature as both suspects are undocumented immigrants.
