A 23-year-old woman living in Adelaide’s north-east was injured during a home invasion by a group of men allegedly armed with a machete. The incident occurred early in the morning at her Orlando Avenue home in Hampstead Gardens. The woman received a knock at her door around 3:50 am, from a man she knew, who supposedly requested money from her. When she declined his request, the man left.
However, shortly after this initial incident, a group of men forcefully entered her home, once again demanding cash. During this home invasion, the resident suffered lacerations on her arm, seemingly from a machete-wielding man. Following the infliction of injuries, the group of men hastily vacated the scene.
Upon receiving reports of the incident, police arrive at the scene and began a search operation in the area. Not before long, they managed to find and arrest a 21-year-old man from Christies Beach. The apprehended man has since been charged with serious criminal trespass and with assault causing harm.
At the time of reporting, a decision about the arrested man’s bail was still pending. Meanwhile, the woman who was attacked and injured in the incident was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Her injuries, whilst not life-threatening, required medical intervention.
The police are continuing their investigation into this violent home invasion. Whilst one arrest has been made, there’s no information about the remaining group of men who were also reportedly involved in the incident. More information is expected to be released as the investigation unfolds.

Do you think self-defense laws need to be stricter or more lenient?
Stricter self-defense laws would only hinder law-abiding citizens from protecting themselves. People have the right to defend themselves and their loved ones. Dont punish the innocent for the actions of a few. Personal safety should never be compromised.
