Arrests made in response to video of infant being sexually abused that was posted online

Two adults have been arrested and charged after a video of an infant being sexually abused was posted online. The Manitoba RCMP Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) discovered an X social media account that had uploaded child sexual abuse material. The ICE Unit, along with the RCMP’s National Child Exploitation Crime Centre (NCECC), quickly identified the culprit as the female owner of the X account, who was also shown in the videos sexually abusing an infant. The RCMP did not disclose the community in which the abuse took place to protect the victim’s identity.

Following the investigation, officers arrested a 27-year-old woman and rescued her infant child from the abusive environment. It was revealed that a man in the same community was in possession of the abusive material and had been extorting the woman by threatening to post it on social media. The man, aged 31, was arrested and charged with possession and access to child pornography, as well as extortion. He remains in custody. The woman was charged with sexual assault, incest, possession, access, and production of child pornography. Both individuals are currently in custody as the investigation continues.

The RCMP is cooperating with international law enforcement partners to track down another individual in the United States who was found to be in possession of the abusive material created by the accused from Manitoba.
