Biden Stumbles At Debate + Yahaya Bello Seeks Transfer Of Case From Abuja To Kogi

Reactions to the American presidential debate are notably unanimous on one point: President Joe Biden’s age is evident and impacting his performance. It was a poor outing for the US President .

His opponent, former President donald Trump, kept fact-checkers busy throughout the night, spending his time on the debate stage promoting half-truths and outright lies.

Former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, after failing to appear for the fifth time before the Federal High Court in Abuja for his arraignment in the N80bn fraud case brought against him by the EFCC, on Thursday applied to the Court, Through his lawyer, to transfer his trial to Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State.

The former governor is facing a 19-count charge bordering on his alleged complicity in money laundering, breach of trust and misappropriation of public funds to the tune of about N80.2billion.

In a viral video, operatives of the anti-graft agency EFCC were seen in plain clothes forcefully entering one of the rooms at the Regional Hotel in Ojo, Lagos.

The Executive Chairman of the (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has ordered the arrest of two officers allegedly involved in the manhandling of a female staff member at the hotel.

NNPP presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, was recently seen visiting former Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, at his home in Abuja.

Just days earlier, El-Rufai and Dujima of Adamawa, Alhaji Musa Halilu, paid a Sallah homage to former President Muhammadu Buhari at his residence in Daura, Katsina State, on June 23, 2024.

This visit occurred a day after a similar meeting between former President Buhari and former Vice President and PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

The former vice president has also visited two former heads of state, IBB and Abdulsalami, in Minna, Niger State. These widely publicized visits that cross party lines seem to indicate alliance-building and a potential reshaping of the political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.

On the 21st June, 2024, Sierra Leone’s parliament made a historic decision by approving a law to abolish child marriage in the country.

Following the announcement, Sierra Leone’s First Lady, Fatima Maada Bio, expressed her joy on X, formerly known as Twitter. She tweeted, “Sierra Leone’s Parliament today unanimously passed the Prohibition of Child Marriage Bill 2024, a crucial piece of legislation that I championed. This private member’s bill outlaws child marriage, a harmful practice that has long plagued the nation.”

A heartwarming video of the First Lady celebrating the new law quickly went viral on social media.

This time around, America has two unimpressive candidates without a third choice. Except that what happens in US affects the entire world, otherwise nothing concern me.

Biden has my vote and everyone in my household. I rather vote for an old man than a con man.

We don't have leaders in Nigeria but politicians. Politicians focus on the next election and leaders focus on the next generation. Rufai

One key takeaway is that presidential debates should be a compulsory factor in the Nigerian presidential electoral process. It exposes the strength and weakness in the candidates
