The reward for information leading to the capture of a mass shooter in Clayton County, Georgia, has been increased to $25,000. The shooter is responsible for an incident that took place in August 2022 at an apartment complex off Riverdale Road, which resulted in the death of 19-year-old Kiyre Allen. Allen was one of five individuals shot during the incident. Allen’s family has taken action to raise the funds in the hope it will provide further incentive for someone to come forward with crucial information.
Kiyre Allen, a recent graduate from Creekside High School, was accused along with his friends of stealing a dirt bike prior to the fatal incident. However, precise details regarding the cause of the shooting and events leading up to it have not been disclosed by the police. The local authorities have yet to name a suspect in the case. The shooter remains at large, adding frustration and pain to the grieving family.
Allen’s mother, Catrice, says that the tragedy still feels fresh to her. However, she remains hopeful and patient, believing that justice will eventually be served. She is holding onto forgiveness towards the individual who murdered her son whilst looking for answers about who is responsible for taking his life. She expressed that she is confident in the ongoing efforts taken by investigators, but also felt compelled to take action herself.
In addition to raising the reward money, Catrice Allen has organised a community event called “Shoot Hoops, Not Guns” with the aim of getting kids engaged. Scheduled for Sunday at Jamestown Park, the event is part of Catrice’s annual effort to give back to the community and promote a message contrary to the tragic violence that took her son’s life.
The family calls upon anyone with information regarding Kiyre Allen’s death to come forward. They should contact Clayton police directly or call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS, where anonymity can be preserved. For now, the family finds solace in the belief that their beloved Kiyre is in heaven, and his strong spiritual presence continues to comfort them through their unfathomable grief.
