Controversy surrounds 'Santa Monica is not safe' sign

A large banner displayed near Santa Monica’s Third Street Promenade is drawing the ire of city officials and certain members of the community. Others, on the other hand, argue it draws attention to the city’s crime.

When the cops kill a criminal, and the assailant is black, they feel sorry for the criminal and make that criminal a hero, and the cop goes to jail, so why should the cops work for people's safety? Black lives matter anyway. Those people without good judgment and who are merciful to criminals will experience KARMA, which is happening now.

Whenever a city official says that "Crime numbers are down" when everyone can see that nothing has changed. It's usually because that city officials have found a way to count crimes in a way that supports their agenda. Just classify certain crimes an non-crimes or reduce the budget to count crimes and magically the numbers go down! Nothing to see here!

I've been coming down to Los Angeles for vacation since 1999 and watched the decline of Santa Monica. Our last pre-covid visit to Santa Monica in 2019, I noticed more vacancies, more homelessness, more smell of urine, and Sbux had remove their seating. When I returned in 2022, things had from gotten bad to worse. I couldn't pin point why I was angry on vacation; perhaps it was eating lunch at 5pm despite leaving our home for a 3 hour MORNING flight, or it could be the $85 hamburger for 2, or the $15/hr parking, or the 20% expectation for tipping plus employee healthcare surcharge. It wasn't until I went to Japan in 2023 that I realized how F'd up the USA is. Watching the decline of Santa Monica and the US, I doubt I'll be spending my vacation money there.

Violent Crime levels are NOT down since 2018. Smoke and mirrors. Since 2018, The SM police department are simply not pressing charges on any offender if they have any sign of mental illness.
(Which are the majority of actual violent crimes are committed.)

Willing to try anything but stop voting democrat

  • @patd6370 June 21, 2024

Duh . . . Of course, Santa Monica is not safe. They vote for Democrats who let Homeless and Crime run amok. I.e. How many signed petition to recall George Gascón??? 🤔

  • @Zen-Tao June 21, 2024

John Alle's real estate license got revoked due to fraud & embezzlement. Look up his court records and his license status. Santa Monica's biggest complainer can't even keep his life together. He's not in a position to throw stones.

All this started when they build that Metro train from downtown LA to Santa Monica. It wasn't bad before. Now this train brings criminals from LA and they deal and sell dope and commit other crimes. I hope this train shots down. Also vote out those corrupted Democrats who run Santa Monica. They are selfish and only care about themselves. Vote them out. Vote red for Gods sake.

Okay, I’ll say the homelessness is definitely a huge issue but they’re not violent towards anyone. They’re just trying to find a place to sleep at night and a place to get some food during the day. I work right where they are speaking about and there’s hardly any criminal activity going on during the later hours of the the night. I understand if you want the homeless issue to be resolved but don’t make these people look like they’re just out there to terrorize. Horrible approach

and if these nonsense town officials try to regulate these types of signs. Just get a truck and paint the Same Message on the sides. Park in a legal parking spot in a busy area downtown, and there is absolutely nothing these stuffed shirt politicians will be able to do about it. Matter of fact, find out where the politicians like to go shopping or out to dinner and park it near there as well until they finally get the message. The politicians, city officials dictate the budget and policy for law enforcement (including electing the Chief of Police), so it is their responsibility if there is out of control crime.

This is what you get when you vote Democrat party in power.

Inflation of rights is when people’s rights are overlapping so that their effective rights are decreasing by receiving newer and newer nominal rights, as well as the amount of rights a certain person can benefit from is increasing only when they are taking away rights from others. Rights are not created by proclaiming them – rights can be proclaimed after they were created. According to the definition of the soviet communism (as I was forced to learn), each person contributes and receives advantages according to their ability and needs, respectively. It did not work, of course, because of the obvious fact that ability DEPENDS on the needs, i.e. the more of your needs are fulfilled, the less ability you will have. The exact same thing is true for the rights: if each person receives as much right as they just can think of and ask for, while each person contributes to maintaining the rights of others according to their ability of respecting other’s rights then this communism of rights will not work either (as you are currently forced to learn).

  • @robertwmassey June 21, 2024

Liars……..all of them. They care nothing about businesses on the promenade. I know, I was one of them. Everything from the police, city council and mayors office, they are all corrupt. Their only interest was tax revenue, now, it’s homeless revenue from the state and feds.

    Corrupt filthy dirty Democrats

  • @BasementBerean June 21, 2024

Landlords working against the collective. Familiar ring to it.

  • @brucemcewan8765 June 21, 2024

Democrats are doing this INTENTIONALLY !
    STOP VOTING FOR THEM

  • The majority of those people are not from los angeles,
