Over the past 100 years Disney has released hundreds of films, but many of them have been deemed to be so taboo in various parts of the world, that they had to be banned from viewing. animation censorship history nerd here

theres actaully several disney shorts from throughout history that were banned for being "too scary"
of the top of my head the three big ones

runaway brain (though theres more going on behind the scenes of production , and genuinely this short deserves its own eposide )

Minnie Takes Care of pluto (a short from the House of Mouse )

    plutos judgement

The shorts from Rodger Rabbit , particularly Tummy Troubles was originally considered a concern as well. but was never fully banned.

if you want to move into long form tv you got a world of options . disney has a particularly odd history of pulling episodes especially off of disney plus for all manner of reasons .
but some of the biggest ones to be pulled often involved either
-> behavior that could be mimicked and seen as dangerous
    -> psa's
-> people who were problematic on the production of the show for various reason .
-> losing the licensing to music that had been added .
-> too close of a comparison to different real life events

the biggest Disney psa episode that i know of to ever be banned came from Buzz Lightyear Star Command , season one episode 26 . super nova .

if you want something a bit more obscure there was a temporarily banned episode of Milo's Murphys Law that would have fit in with third topic of this video .

of all the shows on disney to have a history of banned /edited and censored tv thats animated the most odd was Timon and Puma theres a lot of episodes that were either fixed or banned mostly for incorrect information about animals but sometimes for violence.

theres also bluey episodes that are banned in places outside of Australia, but im not sure whether to count those as disney doesnt own it they just have the right to distribute
    it .

vast majority of diseny banned content for tv though (1990 and forward ) is usually about school violence or accidental association with various historical sensitive events.

with the occasional exception of things that im not sure i fully get why they were banned. like a few of molly mcgees episodes.

anyway hope this helps. like i said im a huge censorship history nerd, its one of those interesting topics that has a lot of different topics within it that sometimes get overlooked because its easier to just briefly dust over topics.
but if it werent for the banning of things like Pokémon's Solider Porygon we likely wouldnt have realized to co-relation between specific speeds used for flashing lights and the affect of epilepsy .
thats why were required to mention if theres flashing lights if theyre over a certain fps and why Incredibles two caused a lot of issues for releasing without a warning at first.
any chance i get to chat about the history behind bans /edits or general censorship is one im happy to start conversation at and learn other perspectives on the topic .

“The Skeleton Dance” short is thankfully known by newer generations, thanks to a meme which shows the short with a song called “Spooky Scary Skeletons” playing over it.

Gal Gadot hasnt even done anything wrong

The WWII shorts are why I kinda wanna see them use Donald Duck as a more "lighthearted" way to spread awareness about PTSD, since war is unfortunately a common cause for it. Watching a beloved character learn about the condition as he waits to attends a therapy session could be very soothing to many.

  • @impmon5349 June 30, 2024

    21:10 it's a genocide

  • @AmberBozoti June 30, 2024

Song of The South was set at the end of the Civil War. So, in all actuality, they were NOT slaves! And it portrays how people actually treated people! Not how people THINK people were treated! THAT'S the REAL reason why it has the reputation it does! It goes against all the stereotypes!! And it's not really banned… you can still get copies of it. I have it!!

All right, I looked up the skeleton dance because I wanted to hear the music and it’s actually really cute. The music is jaunty and adorable! The beginning is creepy, but I think maybe Denmark only saw the beginning 🙂‍↔️

  • @JAProductions494 June 30, 2024

I’ve seen Song of the South. It’s definitely really dated and whatnot and it’s probably for the best that it’s being hidden away…

But the biggest crime that the film commits is that it’s really BORING!!!

  • Hello I have subscribed to your YouTube channel

  • 9:11 I totally think this is wrong and that the percentages of minorities in movies should reflect of that in real life. And its woke propaganda so bad

  • @Saint_Dan132 June 30, 2024

  • @southparkfirefly June 30, 2024

I actually saw that Donald Duck short on Youtube about 10 years ago, it's just Donald being a soldier of War and suffering from PTSD, it's kinda sad actually.

  • @Thrarm June 30, 2024

i only just noticed how Xi Jinping has like zero eyebrows

  • @DullyDust June 30, 2024

Having grown up in Denmark, i am pretty sure that Jakob Stegelmann made sure that The Skeleton Dance was played at least once, more likely more than once, in the Disney Sjov hour on the national Danish television station, so it luckily didn't stick 😂

  • @Pehmokettu June 30, 2024

USA also had many problems in 1940's so when Donald was so extremely happy to be in USA it felt cringy. This remings me of that time when some Russian YouTuber was in North Korea and told how many stuff sucked there and in the end he was super happy to go backto Russia, totally ignoring the fact that his home country also had many similar problems than North Korea had.
