Nepal and India have a long history of close relations. The two countries share cultural, linguistic, marital, religious and economic ties at the people-to-people level.However, like any relationship between two countries, there have been some issues and challenges. For example, there was a boundary dispute between the two countries that came under severe strain after Kathmandu published a new political map in 2020 that showed three Indian territories as part of Nepal. However, both countries have agreed to tackle the boundary dispute amicably and have signed several pacts to broaden their ties.
