A Florida man went on a shooting spree in Manatee County, killing three women, including his mother and cousin, then attempting to kill two of his ex-girlfriends, according to the sheriff’s office.
The Manatee County sheriff said 28-year-old Javontee Brice traveled to several homes late Monday night with the goal of murdering various loved ones. His plan was then to flee to Georgia and kill his ex-girlfriend, but deputies tracked him down and he was killed in a shootout, the sheriff explained.
Brice went to a Motel 6 in Bradenton, where his mother, his mother’s boyfriend and two young sisters were staying, according to the sheriff, who said Brice walked into the room and said, “I’m sorry” before fatally shooting his mother.
The sheriff said Brice went on to kill his 29-year-old cousin, who was at a cookout in Palmetto, and his ex-girlfriend’s new partner in Bradenton.
The motive remains under investigation.
