Gayle King Reacts to Backlash Over Sexual Assault Question

In a short clip of a “CBS This Morning” interview posted on social media on Tuesday, Gayle King asked WNBA star Lisa Leslie if she thought Kobe Bryant’s legacy was “complicated” by the assault allegations against the star. The clip began to generate backlash. Today, King posted a video saying that the clip was taken out of context, blaming her own network for posting “the most salacious part.” King made it clear that she’s still mourning Kobe’s death, and that the last thing she wants is to disparage him. #InsideEdition

    Gayle King should be fired. Terrible interviewer, this one and interviewing a man about his child who has been abducted and ask about politics is terrible. Gayle is only there because she is friend with Oprah. She is a terrible interview. BOYCOT this woman.

    If you really wanted to make comments or ask questions about this, you could have done it while he was alive. This is so distasteful to bring this up after he's dead. Its one thing to talk about someone behind their back, but what a way to dishonor a man who is not here. No thought whatsoever about the mans family and children. I don't believe her apology at all. She still asked the questions. That case was over and done with. You call Kobe a friend? Look out Oprah, she a back stabber. Snoop's words were harsh but fittiing.

    The criminal charges were dropped against Kobe; the civil suit went forward. Kobe does not have a criminal record as a rapist. Gayle King should not have mentioned the word "rape."

    The female who refused to testify got severe death threats! Even if we your ppl, the truth against an abuser, is the truth!! Just because Snoop says stick up for ur ppl, doesn’t mean a man has a right to cheat on his wife or demean a woman physically. The victim was victimized, then got death threats after she was going to expose it. 2 serious wrongs back to back!! Despicable behavior. Ghetto behavior!!

    You say the channel is responsible for those questions and I beg to differ. I did not notice in the interview where someone held a gun to your head forcing you to ask those questions and insinuate that Lisa’s partiality toward her beloved friend wouldn’t allow her to acquiesce to your pointedness. That my dear was the poor taste of a successful(in the eyes of white Americans) “journalist-turned-shock-jock” to gain ratings for her hailed network

    If you self-checked a little more Gayle maybe some sensitivity might’ve kicked in when you considered how your inflammatory questions would’ve hurt yourself—the bereaved wife of a beloved husband who, along with your beautiful promising little daughter who loved her daddy very much were just so tragically lost. Only now as I type this—a man of 45, do I tearfully and angrily agree somewhat with the sentiments of outrage felt by Snoop and so many others of our community. You’re bringing the white supremacist’s news outlet’s smear tactics to our doorstep.
