The Gujarat Titans secured a seven-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League, with impact substitute Sai Sudharsan and David Miller leading the middle-order batting performance. Hyderabad, who had previously scored the highest total in IPL history, were restricted to 162-8, with Mohit Sharma taking 3-25. In response, the Titans chased down the target of 168-3 in 19.1 overs, thanks to contributions from Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill before Sudharsan and Miller sealed the win.
Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals secured their first win of the season by defeating defending champion Chennai Super Kings by 20 runs. Rishabh Pant played a crucial role, scoring 51 off 32 balls to propel Delhi to 191-5. Chennai faltered in their chase, with Ajinkya Rahane and MS Dhoni contributing with the bat but falling short as they finished at 171-6. Pant’s return to form after a long break due to injury was a significant boost for Delhi, who benefitted from a strong batting performance.
In another match, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra were dismissed early as Chennai found themselves at 7-2 in response to Delhi’s total. Rahane and Daryl Mitchell provided resistance, but once they were dismissed, Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja had a lot of work to do at 120-6. Despite a valiant effort from Dhoni, who hit four fours and three sixes, Chennai fell short and Delhi’s total proved to be enough for their first win of the season. Medium pacers Mukesh Kumar and Khaleel Ahmed shared five wickets for Delhi to secure the victory.
With the win, Gujarat Titans moved into the top four of the IPL standings, while Chennai Super Kings suffered their first defeat of the season and dropped to second place in the points table. Delhi Capitals’ victory over Chennai was significant as they registered their first win after two losses in the tournament. The performances of key players like Pant, Miller, and Sharma played a crucial role in shaping the outcomes of the matches, highlighting the competitive nature of the IPL and the importance of consistent performances from all players in the team.
