  Early buyers serve an important role. They search for the next big thing or short wasteful unprofitable companies. They're the first movers who speed up the allocation process. They do this for profit like everyone else.
  We shouldn't discourage people who possess this rare knowledge of businesses' in workings, from pushing the market in the right direction just because they'll make more profit.

  I can undestand the concerns some people have, but this is something the free market can handle on it's own. If investors are worried about CEOs and employes dumping on them they will buy stocks of companies that forbid their staff from selling their stock for a fixed period of time and make them sign non disclosure agreements. No regulation needed here.

  Im just eondering what your thoughts of "insider trading" (I know this is a bit different) with politicians like nancy pelosi. You gave the example of if insider trading would make people have an unfair advantage in profiting off of stocks, then there could be a case. It has been proven time and time again that she has beaten both the average broker and coperate brokers many years in a row. Should "insider trading" only be restricted on people who can actually lay their thumbs on the scales and know when and how much to sell? The reason why I think this would be an important distinction is if politicians can benefit off of manipulating the market so that they can make money off of stocks, they will create laws, sue, and create restrictions more just tomake more money off of stocks. I personally want politicians to interfere less with the market so whilst the act of insider trading shouldnt be illegal, the power that the policians misuse for insider trading should at least be. Therefore, it would be much simpler to say that it should be illegal because it would deter them from manipulate the market directly

  I had never bothered to check why is insider trading illegal, as it would probably be based on some bogus claim from busybody bureaucrats.

  Martha Stewart "had to spend several months in feederal prison all because she supposedly avoided losing $57,000 n stock value…" Sorry, Shane, tha5t's wrong. Regardles of what she may or may noy have done, she spent monthS in fedeal prison because she didn't kwwp her mouth shut when FBI agents came to visit her.. She should have told the FBI to get lost. Police officers are hired to collect evidence to find someone guilty. I f you don't say anything to them – which the 5th Amendment guarantees you the right to do so – they have no information and can't claim you said anything. A simple, "I do not talk to law enforcement without my lawyer" would have gotten rrid of them. Stewart is the go-to example of why you "don't talk to police."
