A Post Office’s front was smashed in by a JCB during a smash-and-grab cash machine robbery in the night in Barnard’s Green, Malvern, Worcestershire, United Kingdom on Thursday the 13th April 2017.
This video shows Scene Of Crime Officers (SOCO) using forensic science during their Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) of the incident to find evidence that may link the scene to those responsible, and bring them to justice.
The video also shows the vehicle involved in the incident, a JCB, being pulled out from the crime scene and loaded onto the back of a recovery truck to most likely be taken for further forensic investigation.
West Mercia Police responded to the scene at 3:20AM to reports of a JCB repeatedly ramming the front of Barnard’s Green Post Office on Court Rd, Malvern.
The crime was committed by a gang of thieves who’d stolen the JCB from the Hanley Swan area as well as a black Mitsubishi Warrior L200 from the Bromyard area and a silver Ford Ranger from the Gloucester area. It’s also reported a blue Audi estate was involved in the incident.
The robbery happened in less than 10 minutes, as after the JCB smashed the front of the shop, a rope was used to pull the ATM out of the building by a 4×4. It’s not known how much money was stolen, as the owner of the business cannot say due to security reasons.
The ATM was reportedly found abandoned later at an industrial estate nearby to Malvern.
The incident may also be linked to similar crimes committed in Bromyard and Kempsey, of Worcestershire.
My thoughts are with the owner of the business who’s Post Office I used from time to time. This was a reckless criminal act on our community.
