Monday morning, the jury in the Karen Read trial sent a judge a note stating, “we find ourselves deeply divided by fundamental differences” and our “consensus is unattainable.” Despite telling the judge they can not agree, the judge told jurors to keep deliberating. Monday marks day five of deliberations.

Karen Read faces several charges including second-degree murder, manslaughter while operating under the influence of alcohol, and leaving the scene of personal injury and death. She was arrested in February of 2022, a few days after John O’Keefe died. If convicted, Read faces life in prison.
