Local cyclists Tyriq Woods and Dahlia Palmer showcased their talent on the second day of the Easter International Grand Prix at the Arima Velodrome, with Woods winning the International Elite Men’s eight-lap race and the UCI Elimination Race. Palmer also had a successful day, winning three races including the two-lap race, the UCI keirin event, and the elimination race. Frank Meredith was the top international cyclist, winning the UCI points race and the scratch 33-lap 15km race.
Woods delighted the local crowd with his victory in the eight-lap race, finishing ahead of fellow Team TTO rider Sydel Samaroo and Edwin Sutherland of Barbados. He then went on to win the UCI elimination race, beating Sutherland into second place. Palmer continued her dominance by winning the two-lap race, the UCI keirin event, and the elimination race, with Cheyenne Awai of Heatwave and Adrianna Seyjagat of Arima Wheelers finishing behind her in the elimination race.
Meredith, representing Star Track Cycling Great Britain, added two more titles to his collection by winning the UCI points race and the 15km 33-lap race. Patton Sims of Star Track Cycling USA and Sutherland of Barbados rounded out the podium in the UCI points race, while Liam Trepte of Team TTO finished second in the 15km race. Despite finishing seventh in the keirin event and sixth in the elimination race, Meredith showed his strength by coming back to win the final race of the day.
