Joseph Harold Murauskas, 45, a resident of Corinth, was sentenced to eight years of prison for the felony of attempted assault in the first degree. His sentencing comes after he pleaded guilty to the charge on January 12. Murauskas was booked for his involvement in a serious domestic dispute.
The incident took place on Chapman Street in Corinth on March 25, 2023. The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office reported that during the dispute, Murauskas seriously assaulted a female, causing serious harm. The nature of their relationship or the motive behind the assault was not disclosed in the proceedings.
After the assault, the victim was promptly treated at the site of the incident. The specifics of her injuries were not divulged. However, given the serious nature of her condition, it was immediate that professional medical assistance was required.
Following the primary treatment, the victim was rushed to the Saratoga Hospital for an extensive examination and required medical procedures. This swift action highlighted the severity of the assault, underpinning Murauskas’s charges and eventual conviction.
The seriousness of the victim’s condition necessitated that she be moved to the Albany Medical Center for further treatment. The back-to-back moves to different hospitals illustrate her dire medical situation following the unfortunate incident. The severity of the case was reflected in Murauskas’s severe sentencing, with the hope of deterring similar future incidents.
