Maryland investigation uncovers sexual abuse of 600-plus children by Catholic Church

A Maryland investigation into Baltimore’s Catholic Church discovered a yearslong cover-up of the sexual abuse of more than 600 children. “We will do everything we can to bring those abusers and those who enabled them to justice,” said State Attorney General Anthony Brown. WBAL’s David Collins reports.

    Why is anyone surprised? You take a man who is forced into celibacy, the church proclaiming he is “Christ on earth”, parents give him power over their children (altar boys and girls), let their children go with a priest unsupervised, on “ retreats”, and basically give the priest unfettered access to their children. And all using their faith as the rational for letting this happen.

    Mothers! Trust NO ONE, especially those in power. Forget about your romantic emotions and GUARD YOUR CHILDREN!

    What if I told you you can join an organization that would allow you to do anything you wanted, to anybody, and it would never be punished, all you have to do is study a little bit, put on some fancy clothes, and say a few nice sounding words?

    20 years ago, church slipped, and we all saw who they really were, they said it was only a few priests, that they'd change, that they'd make sure the children were safe. It's been 20 years, and nothing has changed, every few months another coverup is exposed, dozens to hundreds of children forever scarred in each parish. How long will we keep letting the church protect these monsters, because the legal system is too scared to be seen as going against the church, or because the church convinces all involved it'd "be best for the Church's image"?

    Christians and Catholics are not the same and the bible says that chirch leaders are to be sexually pure and blameless. 1 Timothy 3
    1This is a trustworthy saying: “If someone aspires to be a church leader, he desires an honorable position.” 2So a church leader must be a man whose life is above reproach. He must be faithful to his wife. He must exercise self-control, live wisely, and have a good reputation. He must enjoy having guests in his home, and he must be able to teach. 3He must not be a heavy drinker or be violent. He must be gentle, not quarrelsome, and not love money. 4He must manage his own family well, having children who respect and obey him. 5For if a man cannot manage his own household, how can he take care of God’s church?

    6A church leader must not be a new believer, because he might become proud, and the devil would cause him to fall. 7Also, people outside the church must speak well of him so that he will not be disgraced and fall into the devil’s trap.

    8In the same way, deacons must be well respected and have integrity. They must not be heavy drinkers or dishonest with money. 9They must be committed to the mystery of the faith now revealed and must live with a clear conscience. 10Before they are appointed as deacons, let them be closely examined. If they pass the test, then let them serve as deacons.

    11In the same way, their wives must be respected and must not slander others. They must exercise self-control and be faithful in everything they do.

    12A deacon must be faithful to his wife, and he must manage his children and household well. 13Those who do well as deacons will be rewarded with respect from others and will have increased confidence in their faith in Christ Jesus.
