A woman and her three-year-old son were found dead at Tom Slick Park, San Antonio, the Medical Examiner confirmed on Friday. Both had received gunshot wounds to the head. The death of the three-year-old boy, Kaiden Kriger, has been classified as a homicide whereas the classification of the mother, Savannah Kriger’s, death remains uncertain.
The investigators’ primary conjecture is that 32-year-old Savannah Kriger is believed to have shot her toddler son before shooting herself. A firearm was spotted in the proximity of their bodies. Subsequent to the discovery of incriminating evidence in their West Bexar County residence, an amber alert was set into motion for the child the preceding Tuesday.
Her vehicle was found parked at the Tom Slick Park near Highway 151 on Tuesday. Following daylight, a Park Police Officer discovered their lifeless bodies in a nearby drainage ditch within the park. Savannah Kriger was reportedly due for a court hearing regarding child custody on the same Tuesday.
The incident has left Savannah’s mother, Nancy, with numerous unanswered questions. Although devastated by the events, she strongly contested the possibility of her daughter hurting her grandson. “I don’t understand why she would hurt her son. She would not hurt her son,” she stated. Nancy further expressed her desire to understand the circumstances that could have led her daughter to apparently take such drastic actions, if indeed she did.
A gathering of the family members and friends of the three-year-old victim was held to commemorate his short-lived life in Tom Slick Park. While the investigation is ongoing, this tragic event has left the San Antonio community in shock and mourning.
