On Wednesday, Montreal police announced that they had arrested eight individuals and seized 20 firearms, nearly 100kg of cocaine, 26kg of MDMA, and 600,000 methamphetamine tablets in a major drug and arms trafficking operation. Led by the SPVM’s organized crime investigation unit, the operation took place in Montreal, Toronto, Longueuil, and Châteauguay. The 97kg of cocaine alone was estimated to be worth about $2.5 million, fitting into a large suitcase or standard washing machine.
The firearms seized included 19 handguns, 1 submachine gun, and 66 prohibited devices (Glock switch). In addition to the drugs and firearms, $100,000 in cash was also confiscated during the operation. Montreal police collaborated with various law enforcement agencies, including the Toronto Police Service, York Regional Police, Halton Regional Police, and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to carry out the operation and make the arrests.
Of the eight individuals arrested, seven were men and one was a woman, all between the ages of 24 and 35. Seven of the suspects appeared in court on Thursday and are facing charges related to drug possession and trafficking. They are currently being held in police custody pending further court proceedings. The successful operation was a result of coordinated efforts among law enforcement agencies to combat organized crime and illegal drug trafficking in the region.
The amount of drugs, firearms, and cash seized in this operation highlights the scale and scope of organized crime in Montreal and its surrounding areas. The collaboration between multiple law enforcement agencies demonstrates the importance of coordinated efforts in tackling drug and arms trafficking networks. The arrests and charges brought against the suspects involved in this operation send a strong message that illegal activities will not be tolerated in the community, and law enforcement will continue to work together to combat organized crime.
The events of this operation serve as a reminder of the ongoing challenges posed by drug and arms trafficking in Montreal and the critical role of law enforcement in addressing these issues. By disrupting criminal networks and confiscating illegal drugs and firearms, authorities are working to make communities safer and protect residents from the harmful effects of organized crime. The successful outcome of this operation underscores the dedication and professionalism of law enforcement agencies in their ongoing efforts to combat illegal activities and ensure public safety.

I bet those cops are secretly keeping some of that coke for themselves.
Why focus on drugs when there are bigger crimes like corruption? Priorities, people!
Do you think the police should focus on bigger crimes instead of minor drug busts?
I bet they missed the real kingpin. Its all a distraction, man.
Nah, youre way off. The real kingpin doesnt need to hide in the shadows. They operate in plain sight, pulling the strings without anyone even realizing it. Dont be fooled by distractions, man. The true power players are always one step ahead.
Shouldnt they focus on prevention rather than just busting? Thoughts?
Shouldnt they focus on preventing crime instead of just busting it after the fact?
Preventing crime is crucial, but busting it after the fact is also necessary for justice and accountability. Both aspects are important in maintaining a safe and orderly society. Its not about either/or, its about a comprehensive approach to law enforcement.
I wonder if this bust will actually make a dent in the citys crime rate.
I highly doubt it. Crime rates are influenced by a multitude of factors, not just one bust. Itll probably be a temporary fix at best. The city needs more comprehensive solutions for long-term change.
