Dr Kevin Blake, the new Police Commissioner, has initiated a broad restructuring in the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s leadership team. The restructuring was announced through the JCF’s weekly Force Orders, marking the first changes under Blake’s leadership since he assumed duty on March 19, 2024. The changes, affecting many senior and middle management levels, will be enforced by April 2, 2024.
Blake’s reshuffle has led to several appointments. DCP Clifford Blake has been assigned to the Inspectorate & Professional Standards Oversite Bureau (IPROB). ACP Warren Clarke now oversees the Strategic Operations Portfolio, while ACP Karina Powell Hood holds the Force Development and Logistics (FDLP) brief. ACP Clifford Chambers will serve in the Office of the Commissioner of Police.
ACP Calvin Allen will head up Area 3 Headquarters and ACP Andrew Lewis will manage the Crime and Security Portfolio. SSP Glenford Miller and SSP Paulette Green have been placed in charge of Area 1 and Area 4 Headquarters respectively. SSP Kirk Ricketts will lead the Security Intelligence Branch (SIB) while SSP Desmond Brooks will also serve within IPROB.
SSP Robert Gordon will take over the Administration Branch, and SSP Howard Chambers is set to direct the Specialised Operations Division. Finally, SP Hopeton Nicholson has been assigned to St Catherine North.
Commissioner Blake stated that his decisions reflect a commitment to revitalising the leadership ranks of the force and fully utilising the skills within. This bold move underlines his strategic vision for the future of the police force, designed to foster a dynamic and efficient leadership team.
