Does "Sky" sound like ScarJo? 👨‍💻 Remove personal information off the web with Incogni with code LEGALEAGLE https://legaleagle.link/incogni ⚖ Get a great lawyer, fast! https://legaleagle.link/eagleteam

  • The voices are very close and the cadence seemed to match. I'll admit my hearing isn't great thanks to a nasty accident involving firecrackers but to me they were damn near identical

  • @theblubus July 5, 2024

    OBJECTION! @15:33

I'm in your audience, I'm under the age of 40 despite what Google analytics may claim, and I know those people lol

  • @21preend42 July 5, 2024

Michigan is missing from his little usa map at 7:13

  • @ColeyDuncan July 5, 2024

Who can I sue for being confused about the difference between Spike Lee and Spike Jonez? I think this video was my first time seeing Spike Jonez. And I'm damn near 40.

  • @diabeticsrule1763 July 5, 2024

I personally don't think the "Sky" voice sounds just like Scarlet Johansson but I totally believe they were trying to evoke it. I think they really want the "her" vibes

  • @amykathleen2 July 5, 2024

I see a lot of people mentioning the non-union thing and I actually would really be interested to hear Legal Eagle’s or another lawyer’s take on this issue. I previously worked in the live theatre industry and it’s my guess that Hollywood works similarly (since the technicians’ union IATSE is the same, and many actors join both SAG and Equity). In live theatre, a particular venue or company is either union and hires only union members, or non-union and strongly prefers to hire non-union members. In my college classes they warned us against joining the union too soon, as that would lead us to be passed over by non-union houses before we had built the resume to get hired in a union house. To me this seems normal and OpenAI hiring non-union seems fine. I can see from the comments that people from other backgrounds see it differently. So I would be interested to hear where the law stands.

  • @PiotrDzialak July 5, 2024

"non-union" voice actress of course. I first thought it was regarding the accent, but then it hit me: they put "we violate labour rights" in their job ad…

  • @Kleineganz July 5, 2024

I understood your old Hollywood references, including Johnny Weissmuller. He famously attended my high school (Lane Tech in Chicago) so I was well-versed in who he was and why he was famous.

  • @xondeez757 July 5, 2024

am i insane? they do not sound the same at all. the openAI women sounds like totally different person and all they have to do is show who the actor was

  • I dont think she has much of a leg to stand on. The actress was different, and wasnt instructed to imitate her, and the tweet in reference to the movie was a fairly simple reference given that a chatbot was the topic of the movie and the product openAI was providing.

  • @VulcanOnWheels July 5, 2024

    5:36 "[A] little bird"?
    15:28 Objection: I recognize Tarzan.

  • I feel pretty sure that everyone working on the project knew that their boss loved the movie HER and the voice, and just steered approved actors to that style.

  • @Bizzarcyborg July 5, 2024

    More reasons for unions

  • @test74088 July 5, 2024

It looks like Patagonia ripped off the Philomena Cunk character for a docutisement, I wonder if they'll get sued?

  • @bstmichael July 5, 2024

I'm in your audience, and I thought all of your examples were relevant. …but I also turned 47 last week.

  • @Rikard_Nilsson July 5, 2024

Did they get help from Ursula the witch of the sea to steal it?

  • @titop.5228 July 5, 2024

ScarJo's part in this feels weird. The intention was clearly to copy a character, no matter whose voice it was. Didn't even remember Her was her until she made a fuss tbh.

But come to think of it, 50 Cent effectively sued Taco Bell for offering him money publicly (creating publicity in the process), so maybe none of this stuff makes a ton of sense.

  • @918guy July 5, 2024

    that sounds nothing like her

  • @ohgeegames July 5, 2024

Hey now! I know who all those actors are! 👴

  • 15:28. I can honestly say that you are absolutely correct.

  • @the_babbleboom July 5, 2024

    "must be non-union"
    huh.

  • @willdwyer6782 July 5, 2024

Lots of people have similar voices. I think it's a stretch.

  • @GokayCEKLI July 5, 2024

I think voice does not fall under likeness people can have similar voices and if by any chance my voice sounds like scarlett johanson i am forever a liability to any company who would like to hire me since ms scarlett can sue them because they are imitating her likeness. I think this doesnt make sense.

  • @X-Warrior.1119 July 5, 2024

Why do you think Hollywood "WRITERS and ACTORS" PROTESTED… For WGA & Sag-Aftra/Strike for a REASON?!… 😡🤬

  • @alexhanson6327 July 5, 2024

    How awful! …

    click click click click click

    Oh my…

  • @k3rr3k July 5, 2024

I realize it kind of sounds like Scarlet Johansen, but I've also heard this exact tone, inflection, and "attitude" from the middle aged women where I live and if you put this next to them it would be identical. She doesn't really have a very unique voice.

  • @joehopfield July 5, 2024

The voice or likeness imitations are an easy problem compared to the fact that the entire training of the major LLMs are based on industrial scale plagiarism. IP law has always increasingly tilted toward corporations, search engines made it worse, now it's freefall.

  • @mariopadilla1445 July 5, 2024

I doesn’t really matter if it sounds like Scarlett if it was actually a different voice actress. If it was performed by a different then there’s no case. That being said, OpenAI should have not caved.

  • @everythingpony July 5, 2024

    It sounds nothing like her?

  • @poisonking July 5, 2024

Scummy company – yes definitely. But the voice sounds nothing like her

  • @OliverBalint July 5, 2024

ChatGPT missed the mark by cloning Scarlett Johansson’s voice. They should have chosen Amanda Silverado, whose voice persona evokes comfort and well-being, rather than Hollywood glamour

  • @TheRedStateBlue July 5, 2024

You can't trademark, copyright or patent a sound… only the method used to create it.

  • @Ben_D. July 5, 2024

Sky is not Scarlett, nor an imitation/impersonation of Scarlett. The voice is the natural speaking voice of a different person, who is also a professional voice actor, who applied for a job, got the job, did the job.

Sean Connery was offered the role of Gandalf in LotR, which he turned down. He does NOT get to sue Sir Ian Mckellan. The job went to another person with similar attributes.

  • @TimJSwan July 5, 2024

They definitely don't sound alike. Scarlett Johansen's voice in the movie sounds annoying to me, but the app sounds normal. I can tell the difference.

  • @gbraadnl July 5, 2024

The actor should be "nonunion"?!? 😮

  • @ivoryas1696 July 5, 2024

    15:40
To be fair… I have not seen a single Clint Eastwood movie as far as I can recall, but I've heard of his name and character for years…

Anyway, people still know who Eddie Murphy and Jackie Chan are, right?

  • @hunterbeach9941 July 5, 2024

Given that witness tampering can be a form of racketeering couldnt this result in a rico case against the prosecutor and the judge?
