In many parts of the world, children are the main victims of human trafficking. The plot of this timeless Disney classic is premised upon the dark realities of forced child labor and the lucrative global market for exploited children.

    I disagree that the cigar causes the donkey transformation. I think it was the beer. Pinocchio only drank 1/2 of his and was only 1/2 transformed. Lampwick drank it all and fully transformed

    Although some people wanted to use this scene to bring light to human trafficking at the time of the movie's release in 1940, in reality, the story of Pleasure Island demonstrates an important life lesson to kids: You can choose to be a responsible adult who goes to school, works hard, and cares for others around you, or you can slack off and waste your life on alcohol, drugs, and crime, and end up all alone as a complete "jackass" that no one wants to be friends with when you're older.

    Some people have also used Biblical analogies to Satan and his demons in other video analyses of Pleasure Island; you can engage in pleasure-filled sinful activities and behavior all you want right now, but you'll eventually have to pay for it in hell.

    To be brainwashed is to be indoctrinated right there and that is a very bad temptation to tempt is what it truly is. Of course the word of God known as the Holy from the words of the Son of God Christ Jesus Himself talked about iniquity abounding with the love of many waxing cold in the 24th chapter of the gospel according to Matthew and it will get worse when the man of sin and the false prophet who work for the god of this world known by 4 names one of them is Apollyon in the Greek tongue. It truly can be scary indeed.

    Call this cruel, I still say it's better than the book. The book could only have been written by someone who hated children – even when Pinocchio and other kids are clearly being manipulated, the blame is always on them and the takeaway is 'they deserve it.'
    Disney knows better – it's the ADULTS who are capable of greater evil than any of the kids, and Disney points that out.

    Gee Does anyone Remember Slavery. When The European White Christian had built Churches in Western Africa with Dungeons and Cellars that had a big part in The Transatlantic Slave trade. That was a Big form of Kidnapping and Human Trafficking. Since he’s Selling the Boys that turned into Donkeys to the Miners. Sounds Familiar

    I am an adult now and I haven’t watched Pinocchio until the live action one. This movie the original gave me nightmares during the pleasure island scene. It was funny but after that donkey transformation I never watched it again.

    I was born and raised in Pakistan in the 80s, and as a child I remember watching on TV pictures of kids who had gone missing or disappeared. Their information and pictures were displayed and those who had seen or had come to know about their whereabouts were requested to contact the telephone numbers displayed. Also we as kids were warned about kidnappers on the loose, looking to kidnap children. They do it for many reasons, to demand a heavy ransom, or as a vendetta against certain people, or to sell the children as camel jockeys to neighboring countries such as the UAE (Abu Dhabi Dubai where children camel jockeys exist). Yes kidnappers can lure the children away by offering candies or sweets or simply yank them as they are driving in their car and if they see a lone child they walking. Sometimes kidnappers take children away and train them to be pickpockets or even break their hands and limbs to make them beggars.
