The Barbados Police Service (TBPS) has sought public assistance in identifying the body of an unidentified adult male. The body was found on Sunday, March 17, at approximately 8:20 pm on the shoreline of Welch’s Beach, located in Welch’s, Christ Church area. His identity remains unknown, leading the police to refer to him as a “John Doe”.
As part of the effort to identify the unknown individual, the police have released photos of a bicycle and are hopeful that these might lead to more information. In a statement, the police noted, “We are asking the public’s help in identifying the bicycle in the photographs as a means to further identify the adult male.” It remains unclear at this point whether the bike belonged to the deceased or if it may be a crucial piece in the puzzle to identifying him.
The TBPS is encouraging anyone who may have information about the bicycle or the person it could be associated with to come forward. The public can contact the Oistins Police Station directly with any leads or details they may have. The station’s contact number is 418-2612. Alternatively, people can call the police emergency line at 211 to share any relevant information.
Aside from this appeal, further details about the case, such as the cause or time of death, have not been disclosed at this time. It remains unknown whether foul play is suspected in the man’s death or if he was local to the area where his body was discovered. Initial public reaction may influence the progress of the investigation.
