QCPD ARRESTS SUSPECT, TWO COHORTS FOR ROBBERY EXTORTION AND ESTAFA IN AN ENTRAPMENT OPERATION

The operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) arrested yesterday, a suspect and her two cohorts for Robbery Extortion and Estafa in an entrapment operation in Quezon City.

PMAJ Don Don Llapitan, CIDU Chief, identified the suspects as Jocelyn Maravilla Heller, 50 years old and a resident of Brgy. Marilag, Quezon City; Felicidad Todio Mallapre, 55 years old and a resident of Brgy. Central, Quezon City; and Ignacio Faderagao Corpuz Jr., 35 years old and a resident of Brgy. Krus na Ligas, Quezon City.

Initial report shows that sometime in August 2021, said suspects were introduced to victim’s family by their neighbor. Suspect Heller told then to the family of the victim, Mark Anthony Ramarama Labiste, that she was about to receive a total amount of Five Hundred Million pesos (Php500,000,000.00) from his deceased US Marine husband but it was put on hold since she needs to pay the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Through showing different photos as proof of the legitimacy of their offer, the suspects were able to convince victim Labiste and family so they received a total amount of One Million pesos (Php1,000,000.00) to process the release of the said money in exchange that they will return the money with 20% interest per month and the house of suspect Mallapre will be used as mortgage to them as collateral.

Moreover, until February 2023, same suspects demanded several amount of money from the victim and a total amount of Eight Million pesos (Php8,000,000.00) was given to suspect Heller. However, the latter was asking for another One Hundred Twenty Thousand pesos (Php120,000.00) for the processing of the documents but the victim decided to report the matter to the police.

With the information gathered, CIDU operatives immediately initiated an entrapment operation for the possible arrest of the suspect and her cohorts which resulted in their arrest at about 3:15 PM of March 3, 2023 at T. Fulgencio Extension, Brgy. Krus Na Ligas, Quezon City.

Complaints of Estafa (Swindling) under Article 315 and Robbery (Extortion) under Article 294 (5), both of the Revised Penal Code (RPC), against the suspects were referred before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office thru Inquest Proceedings.

QCPD Director PBGEN Nicolas D Torre III commended the CIDU for their swift action which resulted in the arrest of the suspects. “Lubos ang aking pasasalamat sa biktima sa kanyang tiwala sa ating kapulisan at pagbibigay ng impormasyon o pagreport sa insidente na humantong sa pagkaaresto ng mga suspek”.
