Ramharack selected for West Indies squad against Pakistan

Trinidad and Tobago off-spinner Karishma Ramharack has been selected for the West Indies squad for the upcoming tour of Pakistan in April-May. The 29-year-old has represented West Indies in both ODIs and T20Is and performed impressively for T&T in the Women’s Super50 Cup. Ramharack is the sole T&T player in the squad, with Djenaba Joseph missing out. Hayley Matthews will lead the team, with Shemaine Campbelle as vice-captain. The West Indies will play five T20Is and three ODIs during the tour.

Jamaica’s Kate Wilmot earns her place in the senior women’s team after standout performances in both the Super50 Cup and the T20 Blaze. Quiana Joseph and Chedean Nation have also been recalled to the squad based on their good showings in regional white-ball tournaments. Lead Selector Anne Browne-John emphasized the importance of the upcoming series against Pakistan, which marks the team’s return to international competition after almost six months. The series will serve as crucial preparation for the T20 World Cup later this year.

The West Indies women’s team will convene in Dubai on April 6 for a one-week training camp before heading to Pakistan. The squad comprises players like Stafanie Taylor, Rashada Williams, and debutant Kate Wilmott. Browne-John highlighted the return of experienced player Chedean Nation to bolster the batting lineup. The selectors are hopeful that the impressive performances of seasoned players in the regional tournament will carry over to the Pakistan series.

The Pakistan tour schedule includes three ODIs and five T20Is to be played at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi. The series will commence with the first ODI on April 18 and conclude with the fifth T20I on May 3. The ICC Women’s Championship will be on the line as Pakistan faces West Indies in the ODI matches.
