An Accra High Court hearing the murder case of J.B. Danquah Adu has acquitted and discharged Vincent Bossu, the second accused person. Justice Lydia Osei Marfo ruled that no case had been made against Bossu, who was standing trial with Daniel Asiedu for charges of conspiracy to commit robbery. Asiedu, also known as Sexy Dondon, is facing charges of murder and robbery. The court has asked Asiedu to open his defense as a case had been made against him. Assistant Superintendent of Police Augustus Nkrumah, the case investigator, has been discharged by the court.
At the March 19, 2024 sitting, defense lawyer Mr. Yaw Dankwah requested the court to make a submission of no case for Bossu. He argued that the prosecution had failed to prove any case against Bossu beyond a reasonable doubt. The court agreed, stating that the prosecution had not made a case against the second accused person and acquitted and discharged him on the charge of conspiracy to rob. As for Asiedu, the court determined that the prosecution had successfully made a case against him and ordered him to open his defense and file any witness statements or call any additional witnesses.
Asiedu is standing trial for the murder of the late MP at his residence in Accra in February 2016. The court has adjourned the case to March 22, 2024, to allow Asiedu to present his defense. The two accused persons had denied the charges before a seven-member jury. Bossu has been acquitted and discharged, while Asiedu is required to present his defense as the prosecution has established a case against him. The case investigator, Assistant Superintendent of Police Augustus Nkrumah, has been discharged by the court.
The court’s ruling on the submission of no case for Bossu highlights the prosecution’s failure to prove his involvement beyond a reasonable doubt. Asiedu, on the other hand, is facing charges of murder and robbery for his alleged role in the late MP’s death. The court has ordered him to present his defense and has set a date for the continuation of the trial. The case has generated significant public interest and attention, given the prominent nature of the victim and the seriousness of the charges against the accused persons. The outcome of the trial will be closely monitored by the public and legal observers.

I believe the courts decision was fair. Biases exist everywhere, but we must trust in the legal system. If you have evidence of bias, present it. Otherwise, lets accept the ruling and move on.
