An Accra High Court presided over by Justice Lydia Osei Marfo has acquitted and discharged Vincent Bossu, the second accused person in the murder case of J.B. Danquah Adu, a late Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North. Bossu was standing trial with Daniel Asiedu, also known as Sexy Dondon, on charges of conspiracy to commit robbery. Asiedu, the first accused person, is facing charges of murder and robbery. The court ruled that no case had been made against Bossu, but ordered Asiedu to open his defense as a case had been established against him.
During the court proceedings on March 19, 2024, Mr. Yaw Dankwah, defense lawyer for Bossu, requested a submission of no case on behalf of his client. He argued that the prosecution had failed to prove any case against Bossu beyond a reasonable doubt, and therefore requested for his release and discharge. The court agreed with the defense’s argument, stating that the prosecution had indeed failed to make a case against Bossu, leading to his acquittal and discharge on the charge of conspiracy to rob.
In contrast, the court found that the prosecution had successfully made a case against Asiedu, the first accused person, and ordered him to open his defense. Asiedu is standing trial for his involvement in the murder of the late MP at his residence in Accra in February 2016. The court also granted Asiedu the opportunity to file any witness statements and call other individuals he wished to testify on his behalf. The case has been adjourned to March 22, 2024, for further proceedings.
Furthermore, the court concluded the cross-examination of Assistant Superintendent of Police Augustus Nkrumah, the case investigator, who has been discharged from his duties. The defense’s argument that the burden of proof was not met by the prosecution in the case of Bossu led to his acquittal and discharge on the charge of conspiracy to commit robbery. Asiedu, on the other hand, will continue to stand trial for murder and robbery charges, as the prosecution has successfully made a case against him.
In summary, the court ruled in favor of Vincent Bossu, acquitting and discharging him on the charge of conspiracy to rob in the murder case of J.B. Danquah Adu. Daniel Asiedu, the first accused person, was ordered to open his defense as a case had been established against him. The prosecution failed to prove any case against Bossu beyond a reasonable doubt, leading to his release, while Asiedu will continue to stand trial for his involvement in the murder of the late MP. The case has been adjourned for further proceedings on March 22, 2024.

Well, maybe there wasnt enough evidence to convict them. The justice system isnt perfect, but its better to let a guilty person go free than to wrongly convict an innocent one. Just saying.
