In a recent drug operation in St Augustine, six individuals have been detained following the discovery of an estimated 3.8 kilogrammes of marijuana. The operation was carried out by officers from the North Central Division, between 10pm Saturday and 3am Sunday. The officers executed a search warrant at a home on Benny Lane off Dookiesingh Street, targeting a man who is known to investigators.
The individual named in the warrant is a 45-year-old man, whom officers believe to be involved in drug-related activities. Upon arrival at the target location, officers discovered that there were more individuals present than initially thought. There were six people within the property ranging from 20 to 45 years old, including a 36-year-old woman.
After executing the warrant, a search of the premises was initiated, leading to the discovery of the illegal substances. The drugs, believed to be marijuana, were found in various locations throughout the property. It is yet unclear who the drugs belong to as investigations are still underway.
All six individuals present within the property during the drug bust have been taken into custody, following the discovery of the marijuana. The arrests were made without any reported resistance. It is yet unclear what charges will be brought against the individuals and if the drugs were intended for sale or personal use.
Further information will be made available as the ongoing investigation unravels. Law enforcement agencies continue to combat drug-related issues within the community. Amid increasing concerns about drug abuse and related crimes, these arrests highlight the commitment of St Augustine law enforcement in tackling such illegal activities.
