Speaking out against hate crimes: Black LGBTQIA+ advocates in Toledo | Black History Month

LGBTQIA+ organizations have reported at least 300 deaths involving those who are transgender and gender-non-conforming in the last ten years. In specific, Black transgender women make up nearly two-thirds of those deaths and it’s likely many more have gone unreported.

Toledo-area advocates share their experiences of hate first-hand and what they want everyone to know about the Black and trans communities.
