On October 6th, 1998, two homophobic men targeted Matthew Shepard with the intent to rob him. They pretended to be gay to get close to him. They killed him for being gay.
October 12th, 1998, Matthew Shepard died in hospital without waking up from the brutal attack he received at the hands of Russell Henderson and Aaron McKinney.
Matthew Shepard was a good man. He was passionate about activism and tolerance. Though his life was tragically cut short, he left a legacy.
