A third man, Terry J. Young, has been charged with murder in connection with the shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory parade in February. The shooting resulted in the death of Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a popular local radio DJ and community organizer, and injured at least 25 other fans. Young faces charges of 2nd degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon, and two counts of armed criminal action. The incident occurred outside Union Station in Kansas City after an argument escalated, as shown in surveillance camera footage. Investigators found social media posts and cellphone data linking Young to the shooting, leading to a request for a $1 million cash bond.
The news of Young’s arrest comes a month after two other men, Dominic M. Miller and Lyndell Mays, were charged with murder in relation to the shooting. According to Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker, Young and two other individuals were involved in the altercation that led to the shooting. The complex nature of the case has been challenging, but all those accused of firing weapons in response to the argument have been apprehended and are facing charges. The involvement of juveniles in the case has also been noted, with a 15-year-old being charged with unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action.
Prosecutor Baker expressed her gratitude to the Kansas City Police homicide detectives for their work in apprehending those involved in the shooting. She mentioned that further charges are expected as the investigation continues. The third defendant, the 15-year-old charged in connection with the shooting, will undergo a hearing to determine if he should be tried as an adult. The victim, Lisa Lopez-Galvan, was mourned by hundreds during her funeral, highlighting the impact of the shooting on the local community.
The surveillance footage of the incident showed Young firing multiple shots after a verbal argument ensued. The involvement of three individuals in the shooting illustrates the chaotic scene that unfolded during the parade celebration. The charges brought against Young underscore the severity of his alleged actions and the potential consequences he may face if convicted. The tragedy of the shooting has left a lasting impact on the community and has prompted a swift and thorough investigation to hold those responsible accountable.
As the case continues to unfold, the focus is on ensuring that justice is served for the victim and all those affected by the shooting. The collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the prosecutor’s office has been instrumental in identifying and apprehending the individuals involved. The complex nature of the case has presented challenges, but the dedication of those working on the investigation is apparent. The pursuit of justice for Lisa Lopez-Galvan and the other victims of the shooting remains a top priority for all involved in the case.
