Two adults were arrested in connection to the kidnapping of two Tennessee kids who were the subject of an Amber Alert. The two girls, 2-year-old Journey Garrett and 9-month-old Daley Garrett, were believed to be with their non-custodial mother, 32-year-old Casey Campbell, in the area of Powell, Alabama. An Amber Alert was issued on March 18, and the children were located safely that same day in a U-Haul truck at a Burger King in Rainsville. Campbell was wanted for especially aggravated kidnapping, and she was taken into custody awaiting extradition to Tennessee. Charles Garrett was also arrested on an outstanding warrant with the Scottsboro Police Department.
Chief Michael Edmondson of the Rainsville Police Department thanked his officers, investigators, Dekalb County DHR, Dekalb County Sheriff’s Office, and the Shelbyville, TN PD for their help in locating the kidnapped children. The case is still open, and more charges could potentially be added in both Alabama and Tennessee. The arrest of the two adults marked the end of a search for the two missing children, who were found unharmed in the U-Haul truck with Campbell and Garrett.
The Rainsville Police Department received a tip from the Shelbyville Police Department that the U-Haul truck containing the kidnapped children was in Rainsville. Upon arrival, officers found Campbell and Garrett in the truck with Journey and Daley Garrett. Campbell was wanted for kidnapping, and RPD took her into custody for the pending charges in Tennessee. The involvement of multiple law enforcement agencies and departments, both in Alabama and Tennessee, highlights the coordinated effort to locate the missing children and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The arrest of Casey Campbell and Charles Garrett was a result of a collaborative effort between multiple agencies, including the Rainsville Police Department and the Dekalb County Sheriff’s Office. Campbell and Garrett were found with the two kidnapped children, who were last seen in Shelbyville. The ongoing investigation could lead to additional charges being added in both Alabama and Tennessee. Should fast food chains have more responsibility in preventing criminal activities on their premises?
Fast food chains should focus on serving food, not playing cop. Its not their job to prevent criminal activities. Lets hold individuals accountable for their actions instead of blaming businesses for societys problems.
