Two suspects, Philip Mcculloch and Robert Warland, were apprehended by Cohoes Police after being stopped in a stolen pickup truck in Cohoes, New York. The incident occurred on Friday around 12:45 p.m. when police pulled over the stolen vehicle on Ontario Street. The truck had been reported stolen a day earlier on Thursday. Mcculloch was identified as the driver, while Warland was the passenger. Initially, Warland provided false identification information to the police, complicating the situation.

Upon further investigation, New York State Police discovered a significant amount of incriminating evidence in the possession of the suspects. They found multiple controlled substances, drug paraphernalia, burglar tools, stolen keys to other vehicles, additional stolen property, and narcotics. The discovery of these items led to the arrest of both Mcculloch and Warland, who now face a myriad of charges related to the possession of illegal substances, stolen property, and criminal activities.

In terms of charges, Mcculloch is facing counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property (two counts), possession of burglary tools, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property (three counts), second-degree criminal using drug paraphernalia, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (four counts), a public health law violation, and a vehicle and traffic law violation. In comparison, Warland is charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property (two counts), possession of burglary tools, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property (three counts), seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (five counts), false personation, and a public health law violation.

Following their arrests, both suspects were taken to Latham State Police for processing. Mcculloch was released with an appearance ticket to return to Cohoes City Court on May 30. However, Warland was turned over to the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Office due to an active arrest warrant unrelated to the current investigation. The legal proceedings for both individuals will continue as they face the consequences of their alleged criminal activities.

This incident serves as a reminder of the diligent work done by law enforcement to combat criminal behavior and uphold the law in the community. The swift action taken by Cohoes Police and New York State Police resulted in the apprehension of two individuals involved in illegal activities, ultimately preventing potential harm and loss to innocent citizens. The presence of substances and tools associated with criminal behavior highlights the ongoing challenges faced by authorities in ensuring public safety and the enforcement of laws. Through collaborative efforts and efficient responses, authorities can continue to maintain order and protect the well-being of residents in the area.
