Karen Read is accused of driving drunk and hitting her boyfriend, Boston police officer John O’Keefe, before leaving him to die in January 2022. Read is now facing several charges, including second-degree murder for the death of O’Keefe. Read claims that she is the victim of a massive frame-up by state and local police.

    Is that the Commonwealth’s verdict form use there statewide? I understand it but the jury might not understand it because all it is if you don’t check guilty it means not guilty but isn’t easier to have a check mark guilty and a check mark not guilty on each counts. Simple.

    So, when judge berated KR for laughing/smiling, I laughed at the exchange between the Defence lawyer and the judge cause I found it funny.
    JB – That's how we've always done it and it is how we will do it.
    D – That's not how we do it, so I'd rather we did it my way.
    And then they change it anyway, I dunno. 🤷‍♀️Just me that thinks it sounds like something you'd hear in a playground?

    People who believe she's guilty but say that there's too much reasonable doubt, should NEVER EVER EVER be part of any juror deciding over someone's life!!! That's not reasonable. Either guilty or not especially when the PROOF is in your face directly pointing to NOT GUILTY.

    The judge thought she could get away with the first slip which was unlawful and one sided. The first question should be, guilty or not guilty and then if found guilty then what extent of guilt to whatever the lesser charges.

    I just don't understand how they could find her guilty of anything without any evidence from the prosecution that the car hit him ? the science, and the medical examiner proves that he was not hit by a car

    I'm thinking Attorney Jackson made a smart move to NOT mention Brian Higgins too much in closing arguments. I believe the whole fight with John O'Keefe happened because Higgins wanted Karen and could not have her. So I'm thinking with Jackson mostly going after the McAlberts, he was leaving it open for them to talk when Feds go after them after Karen is found NOT GUILTY. They will throw Higgins under the bus, and all the bully kids on the bus will start talking.

    No SERT report alone is grounds for appeal, no SERT report mean any psychical evidence found on her car is unreliable and therefore should have been excluded / deemed inadmissible in court. Bev is highly questionable for allowing it in and for allowing this case go to trial in the first place.

    If the verdict slip doesn't have any not guilty guilty options available for subordinate charges then The top of the verdict form needs to include clarification:
    "Check only one of the following choices" and
    "We find the defendant NOT GUILTY of the offense charged or any lesser included offense"…… followed by subordinate charges.
