What is illegal insider trading? PLEASE LIKE AND SHARE THIS VIDEO SO WE CAN DO MORE! Why is insider trading illegal? Isn’t it just taking advantage of your opportunities? How insiders take advantage of information that is not in the public domain. Here I’m not talking of those insiders/directors that are buying or selling when they are allowed to… I’m talking about the illegal side of this where an insider is acting on information that is not readily available to the public. OK.

1. Insider knows a big deal is coming.
2. Insider warns a family member of bad news.
3. Supplier sees information that isn’t public.
4. Another company trades on information.
5. A lawyer working on a case trades on insiders knowledge.

    If I bought a hospital pharmacy as a hospital director of that hospital before the sale of that hospital pharmacy has gone public have I done insider trading?

    with regards to point 4 I guess it depends if insider trading is defined as merely knowing something before the public even if you have no relationship with the company your trading on, or whether insider trading is defined as knowing something obtained directly or indirectly from the company. I've always wondered that if for example you are an employee of company A and you know it will release a product that will send competitors company B stock down and you short company Bs stock before its public is it illegal because the information was not obtained from company B in anyway shape or form.

    So why do you think that the good and the educated, those in positions of great authority and power then continue to practice 'insider trading', what kind of example is that to the rest of us? Donald Trump once said, 'At my level its all insider trading'. Why should we, the poor unwashed masses take the moral high ground while our elders and betters are at it like rabbits?

    How are insiders illegal id they know something that public don't? I mean, that Jeff Bezzos trading is illegal, because he knows everything before public..?
