The recent International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA) saw Teejay and Byron Messia emerge as big winners, each taking home three awards. Teejay received the Gregory Isaacs Award for Best Song, the U-Roy Award for best male DJ/Rapper, and the best collaborated song for the “Drift remix.” Byron Messia won awards for The Best new entertainer, The Best crossover song, and Best Music Video. Christopher Martin and Sean Paul also secured two awards each, along with Pablo YG, Spice, and other notable artists.
Acknowledging the esteemed individuals who have significantly contributed to reggae music, founder and executive producer Ephraim Martin expressed his delight at being able to honor such talented artists. Sharon Marley paid a special tribute to her mother, Dr. Alferita Marley, who received the Philanthropist Award. Special Honors were presented to several recipients, including Freddie McGregor, Glen Washington, and Chris Chin, among others, for their exceptional contributions to the music industry.
The awards ceremony also recognized Attorney Benjamin L Crump with the Freedom Fighter Award, while other notable awardees included Etana, Burning Spear, Valiant, Patrice Roberts, and Dexta Daps. Various categories such as Best Latin, African, Reggae Rock, Poet/Spoken Word Entertainer, and Instrumentalist were also acknowledged. On Stage TV’s Winford Williams received the Best Social Media Content Creator influencer award, while other awards were presented to Sons of Mystro, DJ Rufus, Ajaeze, and Grace Haukwa for their outstanding contributions to African music and culture.
Overall, the 41st staging of the IRAWMA Awards was a memorable and celebratory event that brought together some of the biggest names in reggae and world music. With multiple artists receiving recognition for their talent, contributions, and achievements, the night highlighted the diversity and excellence within the industry. The awards not only honored established artists but also showcased up-and-coming talent, ensuring that the legacy of reggae music continues to thrive and evolve. I cant believe Teejay beat Byron Messia. Messia deserved it more!
Are you serious? Teejay clearly outperformed Messia. The judges made the right call. Messia needs to step up his game if he wants to compete at that level. Teejay earned that win fair and square. Deal with it.

I respectfully disagree. Byron Messia showcased unparalleled technical skill and creativity throughout the competition. Teejay was solid, but Byrons performance was on another level. The judges made the right call. Talent speaks for itself.
