The disappearance of 20-year-old soldier Vanessa Guillén began badly and ended horribly worse. She vanished on an April Sunday, in broad daylight, from Fort Hood, the third-largest Army base in the country. Her family would later say she spoke of being sexually harassed at the Texas installation, and of being afraid to report it. For as long as women have been legally admitted into the military, in the 1940s, discrimination, harassment and assault have haunted the armed services without relief. #InsideEdition

    I asked a girl out to watch a football game at a wide open sports bar. Sometime later I was told she made a sexual complaint about that. Like wtf… I was just asking someone out. That made me paranoid about asking girls out.

    Wow. I was completely ignorant to the seriousness of this issue. My heart goes out to these women and their families dealing with this for so long. You would thinkwith the times we live in swift action would be taken to prevent this from happening over and over again!!

    I am so prroud of you Sailor. Same situation with me in Korea. I filed the claim in 2015. Had all the evidence, reported to CID and was ignored for nearly 15 year.s God Bless you. Takes guts to do what you did.

    Immediately after the event, one must go to the hospital for an exam. There will be DNA evidence and this will help prove the crime occurred. Do not bath or eat or drink. Go to a civilian hospital and avoid the military ones. The civilian hospital will call the local cops and a Nurse Practitioner (SART). They will help you. If the suspect appears at the hospital, let the cops know ASAP. It does not matter where it occurred. If it occurred on base, ask the civilian cop for an outside agency assist report.

    The XO on my submarine had his Assault team of 6 that would beat new people when they came onboard, would send his thugs against anyone that complained. A real killer.

    So terrible. This is part of why student debt needs to be cancelled – military service is touted by many as a solution to student debt, but clearly it doesn't work for everyone. No woman or man should be forced into an unsafe environment just to pay off debt for education

    Military workplace bullying also needs to have a spotlight put on it. When confronted with solid evidence, Uncle Sam doesn't want to talk about it. The National Guard and the Air National Guard seem to be the worst.
