BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A 24-year-old man was fatally shot in Birmingham’s Bush Hills neighborhood Saturday afternoon.
According to Truman Fitzgerald of the Birmingham Police Department, officers were dispatch around 2:05 p.m. to a ShotSpotter alert in the 1200 block of Fourth Avenue West. Officers found a young man at the scene lying unresponsive in the roadway suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service personnel pronounced the victim dead. The BPD later identified the victim as Keenetheen Royall, of Birmingham.
Fitzgerald said police believe shots were fired in and around the 1200 to 1400 block of Fourth Avenue West. The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was targeted.
There is no one in custody in connection to the case. Those with information on the shooting are urged to call the BPD at 205-254-1764 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777. Tipsters could receive up to $5,000 for their tip.
