The attorney for rapper Young Thug has compared the Georgia legal system to that of Communist Russia after complaining that prosecutors in the YSL RICO case appear to be intimidating a star witness.
Attorney Brian Steel says that prosecutors are intimidating witness “Lil Woody” Copeland by “surrounding him” as he travels to and from the court room after breaks and accompanying him during breaks. Steel argues that the prosecution’s conversations with the witness should be documented and shared with the defense, but instead the defense is only getting “drips” of information.
Steel says that the situation is creating “the worst” trial for his client and compares the situation to something that would be seen in a communist country.
This latest complaint comes after the judge in the case, Ural Glanville, held attorney Steel in contempt of court and sentenced him to jail time earlier in the week after Steele learned of a secret meeting between the judge, the prosecutor, and YSL Woody. After Steel confronted Judge Glanville in court regarding the meeting, Glanville held attorney Steel in contempt after Steel refused to tell Glanville how he had learned about the meeting.
