ATTORNEY REACTS AS YSL WOODY CONTINUES HIS TESTIMONY!

Kenneth “Lil Woody” Copeland is still on the stand during Day 93 of the Young Thug/YSL trial in Fulton County.

On Thursday morning, the prosecution began asking Copeland about the murder of Donovan “Big Nutt” Thomas.
Thomas, 26, was shot and killed in Atlanta’s Castleberry Hill neighborhood in 2015. Shannon Stillwell and Deamonte Kendrick, two of the remaining defendants in the Young Thug trial, have been charged in connection with the shooting. Young Thug is accused of renting the car that was used during the murder.

At one point during the questioning, Young Thug’s attorney, Brian Steel, moved for a mistrial because he felt that the questioning implied that Young Thug was present in 2015. The jury was dismissed so that the motion could be discussed.

The prosecution explained that they were attempting to show that Copeland’s version of events had changed from what he told police in 2015. According to the prosecution, Copeland has changed his testimony because he is being forced to give it in open court in front of the accused.

Judge Glanville denied the motion for mistrial.

As questioning continued, Copeland answered many questions with “I don’t recall” or “I don’t remember” and “If he said I said it, I said it” or something similar, which was obviously frustrating to the prosecutors.

Later in the morning, attorney Brian Steel brought concerns to a judge regarding the treatment and handling of Copeland in the courtroom and its surrounding areas. Steel observed that Copeland is often accompanied by law enforcement, district attorney’s office members, and prosecutors during breaks, mornings, and afternoons, which they find inappropriate. Steel noted that these individuals are frequently present near the courtroom’s double doors, making eye contact with Copeland while he testifies, suggesting possible coercion or undue influence.

Steel that Mr. Copeland, who is not in custody, seems to be under the undue influence of the prosecution, implying that he is being led or coerced. Steel questioned why Copeland would voluntarily spend time with the prosecutors and expressed frustration about not having full access to all information, accusing the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office of employing unfair tactics.

“Every time Mr. Copeland comes in the courtroom or out of court, he’s escorted by a DA’s office investigator. You see that? This court is observant. You’re not just sitting there in a cloud. You see exactly what’s going on. You hear the prosecutor tell you, we were in a room with Mr. Copeland, and he said to you, why? Why do I have to bring it up? You should be bringing it up. This is crazy. This is like communist Russia. Mr. Williams is having the worst trial. So I’m moving again to stop intimidating the witness by the prosecution, leave people alone and stop accusing,” Steel told the judge.
