#BBCEyeInvestigations uncovers an ugly business of sexual assault for sale.

We find websites selling thousands of videos of men sexually abusing women on trains, buses, and other crowded public places across East Asia. You can even order your own tailor-made assault on these sites.

They’re run by a shadowy figure known as “Uncle Qi”. He’s hailed as a guru by an online community of perverts. But who is he?

The hunt leads us to Japan, where sexual assault in public is known as “Chikan”.

We take you inside this dark and twisted world to hear from the perpetrators of these horrendous crimes, and meet the women who are fighting back.

We visit a “Chikan” sex club where customers can pay to legally grope women in rooms decorated like trains, and we follow plain clothes police searching for sexual predators on Japan’s metro.

And we go undercover to expose the identity of the men running these websites who are cashing in on sexual violence.

How more sick can this planet get ?

  • @wind4435 July 2, 2024

Excellent investigation and reporting! BUT, why did you guys NOT report this to Japanese authorities and China's authorities? Why confront him and said all of those allegations to his face? What do you guys hope to achieve from doing that? A public apology? Now, he's back in China, continuing his crime against women in China without any consequences!

  • @metaphorlog July 2, 2024

What kind of journalism is this? Jumping on a criminal like that, what are you making, a reaction video for tik tok? Giving all the findings, tapes to the authorities would have helped so many women. Ruined all the effort..

  • @metaphorlog July 2, 2024

I think their metro does not have a women's only compartment…just asking… If not they should demand it….this is absurd and pukish..

  • @taymaahamaideh2161 July 2, 2024

Please tell me he got arrested and all of his disgusting sites were shutdown??

  • @NakaraEstora-wi8cz July 2, 2024

Oh. this is the world we're living in now.

  • I feel violated just by watching this. What the heck is wrong with these disgusting men!!!!🤬🤯😡something similar happened to me too. The first time I was too shocked to say something the second time I screamed at the son of a b** and a woman came to my help but the person could manage to run away before to police could get involved 🙄

omg! Major applause to the survivors and the whistleblowers for exposing these sick and disgusting crimes! And thanks to bbc for sharing this shocking information! I am beyond shocked and disgusted by the amount of corruption and injustice that is still happening to women and young girls today😢😢

So? Was the weedy pervert arrested? or is he still out there? This is why I don't want my kids to grow up in Japan

When I was first assaulted, it was chikan. What struck me the most at the time was even when the crowd had thinned out, and it became obvious, no one helped. I remember that even more than the assault itself. Looking back, it messed me up psychologically because I was a minor. Adults did not protect me, so I felt maybe I did not deserved to be protected. Yayoi articulated it so well. It was treated like a natrual disaster.

I also relate to Yayoi in her motivation for activism. Now grown, I am angry. I decided to turn my anger into fuel for something more productive. I am now an activist in various issues. I don't want to be one of those people that day who just watched and did nothing.

  • Thats rape

Brilliantly done. What interested me the most was when the Chikan lady working at the sex shop ssid that the guys asked her to pretend that she doesn't like what they were doing to her. Clearly, the goal for such men is the thrill they get from abusing someone. If that someone doesn't find it abusive much, it lowers the thrill.
So we see what a male dominated society is like. Stressed, overworked men in East Asia – Japan, Korea and China. That stress seeks relief. One form of relief lies in giving displeasure and assault to others, preferably more vulnerable people like women. To abuse and humiliate them is a form of therapy. Bullying is also a form of it.
I don't blame so much the males as i blame masculinity itself. It's been here for as long as we have been here.

We need to talk more about Yayoi's experience. She was a victim at the age of 8 freaking years old. And my heart break when she blames herself for not reporting it, thinking it would stop the crime and prevent future victim. I hope people around her tell her that it's not her fault, and that she doesnt deserves to experience such terrible thing and carry the burden. She has helped a lot with her activism. I hope she can heal from her trauma and her activism can get help from many people.

  • @skinnypig2794 July 2, 2024

The way the chikan club owner explain every detail of the establisment reminds me of the korean drama pinochio scene where the luxury bag retail used the crime news as an exposure opportunity. it's kinda sad 😢

  • @sliceofloving July 2, 2024

People need to speak up more about how unethical hackers, and how online sex crimes are dangerous and meant to ruin the victims lives and reputation, while others try to protect the perpertrators.

  • @not_packgody July 2, 2024

    She has thor browser lol

  • @Oyaji-pw1pc July 2, 2024

26:54 I actually used the services here. You can legally fulfill a man's dreams. You can experience things that are not possible in everyday life. I am nothing but grateful to the women who work here.

  • I am unpacking all these creepy behaviors. Many of the victims shown, look really young. When I saw the shop and all the women are wearing school uniforms, my blood ran cold. It's just so creepy and gross.

  • @m.k.519 July 2, 2024

WTF is up with the reaction of Twitter!!

  • @user-dn8sl2td4g July 2, 2024

    Japanese men cry😭😭😭
