A digital forensics expert who works for the Massachusetts State Police testified Monday in the boyfriend cop murder trial. Nicholas Guarino read Facebook messages between Karen Read and John O’Keefe that were exchanged just hours before O’Keefe was found unresponsive in the snow. Both Read and O’Keefe expressed they had been having challenges and were sick of fighting.

Karen Read faces several charges including second-degree murder, manslaughter while operating under the influence of alcohol, and leaving the scene of personal injury and death. She was arrested in February of 2022, a few days after John O’Keefe died. If convicted, Read faces life in prison.
