    I don’t understand why card companies employ what is likely an easier and more secure approach. I could lose my card and before I turn it off it can be used to purchase gas or just about anything else including online purchases. I don’t know what a signature actually accomplishes but would opt in to a safer system.

    Why don’t card companies allow us to opt into a system where every purchase would have to be authorized separately through a cell phone text? I’d rather be inconvenienced by approving a text when I’m trying to purchase gas at a pump or dinner at a restaurant. This way anyone who tries to use my card, including online purchases, would not be approved until I responded to the text.

    Seems simple to fix, or at least drastically reduce, the amount of fraudulent card use.
