The community of Akron was shocked when a house erupted in flames in May 2017. A neighbor saw the raging fire and called 911 immediately, shrieking to police that the fire was getting worse. First responders rushed to the scene but it was too late to save the family inside. Five children and two adults perished in the fire. The fire was ruled arson after detectives uncovered security footage from neighbors showing a suspect starting the fire that killed seven people. Dennis Huggins, Angela Boggs, and their five children, Cameron Huggins, Alivia Huggins, Kylle Huggins, Daisia Huggins, and Jered Boggs, were murdered by arson on May 15, 2017. A masked suspect was identified as the source of the fire. During their investigation, detectives believed the fire was connected to two other cases of arson, one that left an elderly couple dead. The suspect was now accused of murdering nine people in three separate arson cases.
