A jury recommended Wade Wilson be sentenced to death for murdering Kristine Melton and Diane Ruiz. Wilson appeared calm and emotionless when the sentencing verdict was read. Wilson will be formally sentenced by a Lee County judge on July 23.

Wade Wilson was found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder after he killed 35-year-old Kristine Melton and 43-year-old Diane Ruiz in October 2019. Wilson met Melton at a Fort Myers, Florida bar and later choked her to death when they went back to her Cape Coral home. Wilson later stole Melton’s car and then killed Ruiz while she was walking to work. Her body was found in a field less than a week later.
