Duggar’s argument that lawyers should have been able to ask about prior sex-offense convictions of a former car dealership staff member who allegedly used the same computer, was rejected and the lower court has upheld Duggar’s conviction.

Their theory was that this former employee may have been responsible for the illicit material found on the computer.

The trial court refused to allow lawyers to introduce past convictions as evidence unless they could establish that the former staff member had access to the same computer.

“19 Kids & Counting” Spoilers – Josh Duggar Case – More Details
19 Kids & Counting was canceled by the TLC network in 2015, shortly after allegations surfaced about Josh Duggar molesting four of his sisters and a babysitter, years before.

Authorities began their investigation after getting a tip from a family friend; however, due to the statute of limitation, potential charges had expired.

The oldest child of Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar, Josh resigned from his role at the Family Research Council, in 2021. The non-governmental organization’s mission is to “advance faith, family, and freedom in public police and the culture from a Christian worldview.”

Duggar’s appeal was centered on the argument that his attorneys should have been permitted to include details about a prior sex-offense conviction against a former employee of Duggar’s car dealership. The employee had used the computer that was seized in the investigation, but was not allowed to testify about the prior conviction during the trial.

Duggar was first arrested by federal authorities in Little Rock, Arkansas in April 2021. During his trial, a Justice Department representative testified that pornographic images of sexual abuse against children, as young as 12, had been downloaded onto Duggar’s work computer the year before.

Duggar’s case has been highly publicized due to his family’s reality TV show “19 Kids and Counting,” which was canceled in 2015 after allegations emerged that Duggar had sexually molested teenage girls, including four of his own sisters and a babysitter. Duggar’s parents said he admitted his actions and sought counseling at the time, but charges were not pressed.
