NHS cyber attack: Data stolen from blood test provider by criminal group ‘published online’

Sensitive data stolen from an NHS provider in a cyber attack has apparently been published online.

NHS England says a criminal group claims it has released patient information hacked from Synnovis, which provides pathology services on blood tests.

Synnovis, which provides services primarily in southeast London, was the victim of a ransomware attack, understood to be carried out by Russian group Qilin, on 3 June.

Go back to the old ways…..this paperless society just isn’t working, it’s creating more headaches and expenses than ever. Everyone blames the computer for delays, rubbish service and problems, so sort it out. If these hackers can get in, the security system is useless. I always thought the NHS had encryptions on encryptions, just goes to show even the gov can’t get it right!

It is a problem with digital recording, its a problem of privatisation, and companies expecting huge profits from public contracts

Anyone confused, the group responsible is a Ukrainian hacking group…the IT provider tried to cut costs with security 😮😮😮

Probably internal. I agree with comment about sabotage. NHS is a total mess. Negligence has become the norm.

NHS systems are so out of date I’m amazed it’s not more. Even basic ward pcs were running windows xp long after it was obsolete. Has much changed in the past decade? Much like the justice system runs on Robert Maxwells outdated software, this is problem throughout the country.

THIS IS AN INSIDE JOB TO PRIVATISE THE NHS , DO NOT BE FOOLED

  • The government & the NHS just sold us out to Israeli tech firms heavily invested in spyware, hacking, monitoring etc. To a company called Palantir.

  • @Deepthought-42 June 30, 2024

The ransom actually starts when the NHS farms out tasks it should do in house with closed systems. Instead the work is externalised to private companies who make a profit from the taxpayer and reduce security through the data handling. 😡

We really can’t go 100% digital. We are not ready.
I would expect the NHS to have the highest safes guards, clearly they haven’t. Scary!

  • @Jb-tl1yi June 30, 2024

Take the government to court and sue them for data breach.

  • @Rick-mf3gh June 30, 2024

Private company has data stolen. Sky News makes NHS carry the can.

  • @claymor8241 June 30, 2024

Why is no one telling us how to find out whether our personal data is compromised? Security issues are one thing but it’s a bit like closing the barn door after the horse has bolted.

They will find out the hard way that fancy technology with billions of pounds of research put into it, isn't quite as good as a pen and paper.

  • @PepperstoneGB June 30, 2024

    0.4TB

  • @booksie1 June 30, 2024

And they want us to give them control with our data… no way

  • I hear Putin caused Tory MP's to put bets on the election, and may have interfered with voting on dancing on ice!

  • @cbedford9379 June 30, 2024

  • @lw1zfog June 30, 2024
