Parents publicly punish kids by making them wear signs | WWYD?



NEW TO YOUTUBE: When we first broadcast this scenario on September 14, 2012, some parents were using a controversial form of punishment: making their kids wear a sandwich board describing their offense (from stealing to smoking to doing drugs) on a public street. Do you think the punishment is appropriate or humiliating?

What would you do when you think no one is watching? What Would You Do? (WWYD?) explores the varying answers with the help of hidden cameras capturing individuals who have been placed within seemingly everyday situation that quickly go awry. The individuals on this hidden camera show are forced to make tough calls when directly faced with situations of racism, violence, hate crimes, and other hot button cultural issues. Catch John Quinones reporting on these individuals as they make split-second decisions to intervene or mind their own business. WWYD? airs Friday nights at 9|8c on ABC.

    Being embarssed of people dislcosing your bad actions is a sign of a good person. Good people feel remorseful and is not proud. Only bad people would tell the whole world what they did, as if they deserve praise.

    shows how black families treat their kids differently and why they end up bad??? and don’t come at me cause i’ve been humiliated too by my family and it made me into a person that hated life but there’s a point where you should know what you’re doing… i grew up like that but atleast i know i will never do this to my kid cause of empathy

    I got brought to the shop that I stole some sweets from by my mum and made to apologise and say what for to the manager who was on the shop floor got banned from the shop for a bit but never done it again

    It’s a great idea. I know a lot of people are against actual consequences for actions. I’m not one of those people. This is not going to hurt them. A little shame and humility is sometimes effective.
    The ladies that said… A good talk is just delusional. If every punishment I got was just a talking to I can’t imagine what kind of person I’d be as an adult.
    The fall of modern society into the chaos of out of control, crime, and children that are unable to survive on their own is directly related to trusting and following the advice as far as child rearing of the mental health industry.

    Well really it's not anybody's business what your child did. If you're gonna punish your child do it in the privacy of your own home.

    As someone who was spanked a lot, I'd much rather be spanked than forced to do this. This seems sadistic and evil

    Why did they change the sign? The whole point they made was to see how people reacted when it was a boy and not a girl. Changing the sign changes the conditions, so you can't compare.

    That’s what makes America so beautiful! We all come from different cultures, backgrounds and we all have different opinions about things. But at the end of the day, we can still be friends.

    Lady tells the mother she is right but didn't like it when the Italian lady told the mother she is wrong, then tells her to say "I just don't agree"…. Yea, ok
