Scotland's new hate crime law could be used to 'settle scores'

On 1 April, a new hate crime law will be introduced in Scotland. The rules will apply in people’s private homes and online.

The legislation criminalises threatening or abusive behaviour based on characteristics including age, disability, sexual orientation and transgender identity.

There are fears innocent people could end up on police databases with controversial new hate crime laws in Scotland being weaponised to “settle scores”.

    The Hate Crime and Public Order Act was supported by the Labour, Liberal, Green and SNP political parties in the Scottish parliament.
    The vote was 82 MSPs for and 32 MSPs against with 4 abstentions.
    The bill became Law on 23 April 2021.

    Look how orwellian that billboard looks. I dont think this is really about hate crime i think they are Trying to condition the public into telling on each other for saying the wrong thing.

    It starts with hate crime to get us all conditioned. But then where does it go next ? Climate denial, criticism of the government, thought crime…?

    That shot of Yousef with the flag… Why so much dead space? Why is the camera lower than his eyeline? I can't decide if it's a "self-shooting-edit-PD" who forgot the tripod and the rest of the lenses, or if it's actually a carefully composed shot that's intended to make Yousef look even more arrogant and jowely than usual. Either way, I like it.

    Seems that Scotland's "Third World First Minister" Numzap Feckin Useless has, like his mentor and predecessor Ms Krankie (Nickerless Sturgeon) met his Waterloo, Police Scotland may also have finally woken up to the inappropriate activities of the punkawallah. If common sense prevails the Scots will rise up against the imposition of Numzap's anti-hate laws designed by him to imflame hatred to project his own idealogy to convert Scotland to the Islamic Republic of Scottystan, only the true sons of Wallace can stop the kilt being banned and the burka imposed……..

    I'm unsure what hate crime has occured in Mr Babba Bake shop. Shoplifting is shoplifting regardless of creed, colour or race. Certainly, if insultory hurtie words regards skin colour etc were issued to Mr Baba, then that elevates the crime to one of hate. As the piece highlights – scores will be settled and will allow idle accusations to emerge.
    My advice? Lock up your lawn mowers and tie down your boucie castles, Scotland. The Polis will not be investigating common garden burglary incidents anymore…
