    The thing can’t reach Microsoft’s servers ‘cause the traffic got sinkholed, and yet it says something went wrong “on our end” and “we’re working on it.”

    How could you be working on it, Microsoft? You don’t even know about it! The packets never reached you! Do tell me how!

    Yet another award for not only useless but misleading error messages in Windows.

    I recently cleaned up my mom's PC: Team Viewer, One Launch, and some Win7 theme which hid easy access to "Add or Remove Programs." Definitely felt like the aftermath of a help desk scam.

    Also worth noting that the 'assistant' offering support just needs to have a Microsoft account (easily spun up using something like 10 Minute Mail), and when they offer suport all the recipient sees is the assistant's first name and the first letter of their surname…which makes for stupidly easy impersonation of known people (if I create an account and enter my name as John HaveITakenControlYet, then offer some quick assistance, guess what the recipient will see?) Definitely worth considering blocking it in some fashion if its (genuinely useful) functionality isn't needed.
